Thereafter, he attended the Saba University School of Medicine, where he received a Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1998.CareerPrior to taking up the post as minister, De Weever was instrumental in the early phase of the Inspectorate of Public Health Social Development & Labor for Country St. Maarten, where he was Chief Operations Officer from 2009 to 2011. De Weever served as Assistant HIV/AIDS Programme Manager from 2007 to 2009, where he assisted in establishing and executing the successful island-wide [RED] Campaign. In 2002 to 2004, De Weever served as policy advisor for the Department of Medical Affairs, where he advised sector Health Care Affairs on new health policies, and conducted physical examinations for civil servants as part of the requirement for admission to the pension fund.InterestsMr. De Weever served on various boards. For a period of three years he served as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the St. Maarten Medical Center Board of the St. Martin Medical Center Managerial Board; he also served as board member of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry as well as the St. Maarten Business Association. All for a term of three years. In addition, he was President of the Association of Coaches and Trainers for Excellence in Sports (ACTES) and Save the Drama Foundation and a board member in various other Foundations and Committees.
